El ácido tranexámico es un derivado sintético del aminoácido lisina.
Se usa para tratar el melasma (manchas oscuras), incluido el melasma del embarazo y la hiperpigmentación posinflamatoria. Se puede usar en todos los tipos de piel y cutis con total seguridad.
El ácido tranexámico provoca una potente y específica reacción antiinflamatoria que inhibe el proceso de producción de pigmento (conocido como síntesis de tirosinasa) en los melanocitos. Al mismo tiempo, bloquea la transferencia de pigmento de los melanocitos (las células productoras de pigmento) a los queratinocitos (las células sintetizadoras de queratina que se encuentran en la capa más externa de la piel, la epidermis).
El ácido tranexámico también calma la piel y ayuda a restaurar la barrera cutánea.
